Can you use the Automatic ASCII Export feature on more than one Job so that each Job exports to a separate file?
Providing everything is setup correctly within the EasyMatch QC software, it is possible to use the Automatic ASCII Export feature on more than one Job and to have each Job export to a different file. To make sure this is setup properly each Job must be saved once the ASCII Export configuration has been set. For more information on setting up the ASCII Export please see our blog note here.
Once you have designated the file name to be used in the ASCII Export Configuration screen make sure you go to File/Save Job. This will save your ASCII Export Configuration settings to your Job. You can then create a new Job, or open a Job and go to Options/ASCII Export/Configure and use a new file name as the designated location. When you are finished go to File/Save Job to save the configuration. This can be done for as many Job files as you need. Just be certain once you designate the export file name and location in Options/ASCII Export/Configure to save the Job by going to File/Save Job.
The ColorFlex EZ (CFEZ) instrument is ideal for measuring certain food products. One such food based products that can be measured using the CFEZ is collagen sausage casings.
Collagen is used as a meat casing because it is safe, versatile, cost effective, and is liked by consumers. Collagen casings are a manufactured product and generally speaking it is easier to control the color over a natural product. By controlling the color of the casing the customer can produce consistent sausages that have the same color, shape, and tenderness which appeals to consumers.
The collagen casings (pictured above) are approximately 1.25 inches to 2 inches. The size and nature of the casings make them an ideal sample for the ColorFlex EZ instrument. The CFEZ instrument is compact, fast, and measures a 1 inch area.
The casings are translucent and need to be backed to ensure consistent measurements; the CFEZ white tile works perfectly for this purpose. A consistent measurement method was obtained by using the largest area of view possible, backing the sample with the white tile, and averaging a total of 3 measurements.
The CFEZ is a robust instrument that is ideal for a wide variety of industries, including food applications. The CFEZ ease of use and area of view make it perfect for measuring these collagen casings in a repeatable manner.
Liquid Fragrance Sample
HunterLab diffuse sphere instruments are often used to measure liquid samples, especially clear liquids. The liquid fragrance shown above is one such example of a clear liquid. The fragrances is so clear that is resembles water.
Fragrances such as this are often added to cleaning supplies, air fresheners, or other consumer products. One of the problems that this type of sample can experience is that the chemistry of the liquid fragrance solution can deteriorate and the solution will start to visually yellow. This is often a concern for manufactures because if the liquid fragrance yellows it cannot be added to the end product.
HunterLab sphere instruments can measure the transmitted color of the liquid and report the yellowness index. The liquid fragrance should be measured in a 20mm path length cell. Since the sample is very clear, near water in color, this slightly larger path length allows for the light to pass through more of the sample. This measurement method ensures that smaller differences can be measured between samples.
With the proper instrument and the appropriate accessories from HunterLab, very clear liquid samples can be accurately and repeatedly measured for color consistency.
Contrast Ratio Opacity measurement quantifies how opaque a sheet sample using two readings. One reading is taken with the black glass or light trap backing the sample at the port. The second reading is taken with the sample backed by a white tile or the white sample clamp insert. EasyMatch QC will prompt you for the proper backing when taking opacity measurements.
